Pat Butler Weekly Update

Posted Date: 10/18/26 (10:30 AM)

Dear Pat Butler Families,

A Huge Thank You to Our PTA and Families! A massive thank you goes out to our incredible PTA and school families for putting together such a wonderful Talent Show! We were blown away by the amazing talent on stage, from our incredible singers and dancers to one fantastic student comedian who inspired many of our Little Bears to follow in his footsteps. The jokes keep on coming around campus, encouraging endless laughter and smiles whenever we are together. Thank you for making it such a memorable event!

5th Grade Science Camp & Upcoming Fundraisers Going to Outdoor Science Camp 5th grade Science Camp is a cherished Pat Butler tradition, offering our 5th graders an unforgettable hands-on learning experience. Camp allows students to explore nature, build teamwork and leadership skills, gain independence, and see their classroom science lessons come to life in the great outdoors.

To ensure every 5th grade Bear gets the opportunity to attend camp this year, we will need everyone’s help and support with our upcoming fundraisers—so keep your eyes peeled for details!

  • 5th Grade Parent Meeting: Wednesday at 6:00 PM in the Library.

We highly encourage all 5th grade parents to attend this important meeting so we can come together and make camp a reality for our students! We are working to secure a translator so that all families can participate.

Counseling Corner

October is National Bullying Prevention Month

For the month of October my Tier 1 counseling lessons will be based on how to be an upstander and stand up for others. Ask your student how they can be an upstander and practice some role play scenarios for extra practice and confidence.

UNITY DAY!

  • Together Against Bullying — United for Kindness, Acceptance, and Inclusion. This day is all about promoting kindness, acceptance, and making sure everyone feels included and safe here at school and in our communities.

  •  Wear and share the color orange on Wednesday, October 21st to show a visible sign that we stand together against bullying.

What is Bullying? We like to remind students that while being mean or rude hurts, bullying is something specific. Bullying happens when there is an imbalance of power and the behavior occurs repeatedly over time. Defining it accurately helps us validate true bullying situations and make sure every child gets the right kind of support.

No matter the situation—whether someone is being rude, mean, or engaging in bullying—we can all choose to be upstanders by speaking up, offering support, and helping make our school community a safe place for everyone!

  • Rude = Saying or doing something hurtful without meaning to (a mistake).

  • Mean = Saying or doing something hurtful on purpose, usually once or twice.

  • Bullying = Hurtful behavior done on purpose, involving an imbalance of power, that happens again and again.

Volunteer Orientation

This year, all parent volunteers are required to meet with Ms. Holman prior to volunteering. Thank you to everyone who has already connected with Ms. Holman.. If you were not able to, please email her at cholman@pasoschools.org. You will not be able to volunteer in your child’s classroom or attend field trips without this. We look forward to hearing from you.
