Dear Pat Butler Families,
Thank you for another fantastic week! We are so proud of our students, and we want to extend a sincere thank you to all of our parents for reinforcing the importance of respect. We’ve seen our students show incredible respect to all adults on campus and take pride in taking care of every area of our school. Your support at home truly makes a difference here every day.
We also want to share how exciting the launch of our Ambassadors Club has been with Ms. Sumner! It’s been wonderful watching our older students step up to mentor and support our younger learners. They are building meaningful connections and helping grow a strong, united community across all grade levels. Thank you for supporting your children in these leadership opportunities.
Hispanic Heritage Month Kick-off!
This week, we are thrilled to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month! Each week throughout the month, our school will focus on a specific theme. This first week will be all about answering "What is Hispanic Heritage Month?" alongside a deep dive into Hispanic art and music. We will end the week with a special assembly featuring guest Folklórico dancers and your students may even learn a few dance steps!
Constitution Day – September 17th
On September 17th, our school will observe Constitution Day. Learning about the U.S. Constitution helps our students understand the foundations of our nation's rights, responsibilities, and government. It empowers them to learn how communities work together, what it means to be an active, informed citizen, and why freedom and unity are core values in our society.

Attendance Matters
Every day of school matters. Consistent attendance does more than just keep students on track academically. Did you know that missing just 2 days of school a month adds up to 18 days a year? That is 10% of the entire school year lost. Missing these days can create learning gaps that can leave students feeling stressed and overwhelmed when catching up. Every day builds confidence, strong friendships, and key academic skills.
These habits start early: attendance in Kindergarten is one of the strongest predictors of future reading proficiency and high school graduation rates. To give every child the best foundation for success, our goal is for all students to maintain an attendance rate of 95% or higher this year. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students connected and thriving!

Parent Volunteers
Volunteers must complete a Volunteer Packet each year; new volunteers must be fingerprinted for field trips. The fingerprinting process will take a few weeks. Once you complete the fingerprinting process, you will not have to repeat it.
If you plan to volunteer and/or accompany your student on field trips, I encourage you to complete the process now so you are cleared. Please contact our office for the volunteer packet and details. Also, we are asking that our volunteers meet with Ms. Holman to go over expectations and roles. We will reach out to you to coordinate this. Volunteer Packet
Cross Country - Grades 4-6
Pat Butler Garden Work Party
We are so excited to invite you to help us in our garden this week. We will be working on laying barriers to the bottom of our brand new garden beds and filling them with new soil so we can start planting. We really appreciated all of the families who came to help last year and are looking forward to a wonderful afternoon together. If you have wheelbarrows or shovels, please bring them. Students will need a guardian in attendance to participate. Thank you for your support.
PTA News
Butler Bears, we are kicking off a fun PTA membership challenge from September 1st through October 1st!
Classes will compete to see which classroom can get the most family PTA memberships. The winning class will earn 15 minutes of extra recess, and their teacher will win a Teacher Survival Basket filled with some fun goodies to help get them through the school year.
Joining PTA is an easy way to support your student and our school. A PTA membership is only $10, and you do not have to attend meetings or volunteer to become a member. Your $10 membership helps support the activities, programs, and opportunities we bring to our students throughout the year.
So ask your family to join PTA and help your class win! More families. More ideas. Bigger success for our kids.
Wayfinder Social Emotional Screener
Please read the attached letter for more information regarding our Wayfinder screener. We use this information to assess student need and build opportunities to support all of our students throughout the year.
Flu Vaccine Clinics: There are two upcoming free flu vaccine clinics, which serve as a vital tool to reduce student and staff absences caused by seasonal flu symptoms. While these events are located at specific campuses, they are free and open to all PRJUSD families and anyone ages 3 and older. The first clinic will be held at Winifred Pifer Elementary on Thursday, October 8th, 2026. The second clinic will be at Glen Speck Elementary on Wednesday, October 15th, 2026. Please feature these dates in your upcoming site newsletters and parent announcements, encouraging families to visit slocounty.gov/FreeFluVaccines for further details.

New Youth Sports Opportunities are Coming to Paso Schools
The new Paso Robles Youth Sports Clinics are giving Paso Schools students in grades 4–8 more opportunities to learn, play, and build their skills in beach volleyball, basketball, and water polo.
Sponsored by a JUSTIN Community Grant in partnership with Paso Robles Joint Unified School District, the clinics will bring experienced local coaches and organizations to PRHS athletic facilities, making high-quality instruction available close to home. The program is focused on reducing financial and geographic barriers while helping young athletes build skills, confidence, teamwork, and resilience.
Fall clinics include:

6:00–7:30 p.m. at the PRHS Beach Volleyball Courts (800 Niblick Rd.)

Clinics are open to all PRJUSD students in grades 4–8, and scholarships are available for eligible students. Space is limited—beach volleyball is nearly full, so families interested in volleyball or basketball are encouraged to register early.
