This Week in Paso Schools | Week of 8/24/26

Good evening, Paso Schools families,

We’re settling into the rhythm of the school year, and it has been wonderful to see our campuses full of students, activities, athletics, and all the joyful energy that make our schools feel like a community.

One of the traditions that helps connect us across schools is our Friday tradition of wearing crimson. Crimson may be the color of Paso Robles High School, but wearing crimson on Fridays reminds us that every elementary student in our district is a Future Bearcat, and each of our schools is part of the same Paso Schools family.

So on Fridays, we’re encouraging students, staff, families, alumni, and community supporters to pull out their crimson and wear it proudly. It’s an easy way to celebrate the unity among our community, support our students, and show that Bearcat pride belongs to all of us.

On Fridays, We Wear Crimson. Pass it on. 🐾❤️

And now, here’s a look at the announcements, reminders, and events coming up across Paso Schools this week.

The new Paso Robles Youth Sports Clinics are giving local students in grades 4–8 more opportunities to learn, play, and build their skills in beach volleyball, basketball, and water polo.

Sponsored by a JUSTIN Community Grant in partnership with Paso Robles Joint Unified School District, the clinics will bring experienced local coaches and organizations to PRHS athletic facilities, making high-quality instruction available close to home. The program is focused on reducing financial and geographic barriers while helping young athletes build skills, confidence, teamwork, and resilience.

Fall clinics include:

🏐 Beach Volleyball

Wednesdays, September 16, 23 & 30

6:00–7:30 p.m. at the PRHS Beach Courts

🏀 Basketball

Sundays, October 11–November 15

3:30–5:00 p.m. at PRHS Gil Asa Gymnasium

🤽 Water Polo

Coming Spring 2027

Clinics are open to all students in grades 4–8, and scholarships are available for eligible students. Space is limited, so families interested in beach volleyball or basketball are encouraged to register early.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and VFW Auxiliary are offering two scholarship opportunities for students in grades 6–12, with this year’s theme: “What a Veteran Taught Me About America”

Students in grades 6–8 can enter the Patriot’s Pen written essay contest by submitting a 300–400 word essay. The national prize is $5,000.

Students in grades 9–12 can enter the Voice of Democracy audio essay competition by recording an original 3–5 minute essay. The national first-place scholarship is $35,000.
