Pat Butler Weekly Update
Dear Pat Butler Families,
Thank you for another great week! Congratulations to our 6th grade boys and our 6th grade girls for bringing home the championship win for volleyball! Thank you to the coaches who made this possible for our students.
There is no school on Monday, February 9th, in honor of President Lincoln’s Birthday.
February is Black History Month
February is Black History Month. It is a time for our school community to celebrate the achievements, stories, and contributions of Black people who have shaped our nation and world. For our students, this month is an opportunity to learn about inspiring leaders, everyday heroes, and rich cultural traditions that reflect bravery, creativity, and perseverance.
Black History Month helps children understand that history is full of many voices and perspectives. It reminds us to honor the past, learn from it, and work together to build a kinder, more inclusive future. We invite families to join in. You can read together at home, talk about role models, and celebrate the richness of our shared history.
ELPAC Testing Starting this week
Our multilingual students will be starting their ELPAC testing this week. If your student will be taking this test, please make sure they are rested and prepared to show all that they know. We are looking forward to celebrating the continued growth of their English language development. We know they have been working so hard!
Parent University- Fostering Resilient Learners
Please join Kristin Souers, an award-winning author, for a practical, research-based session on"10 Things Our Brains Need to Be Healthy," designed for parents and all adult caregivers (grandparents, aunts/uncles, coaches, child‑care providers, teachers, foster parents, etc.). Learn why stress undermines learning and teaching and learn strategies that help children become regulated, focused, and ready to learn. This session will take place Wednesday, February 11th, at 6:00 p.m. at Georgia Brown.

Track and Field
Track and field will start Thursday, February 12th. This will be for 4th-6th grade students. Students will need to have a completed sports packet completed to participate. We are still looking for one coach so if you are interested please reach out to Christy Holman at cholman@pasoschools.org. Thank you for making these opportunities possible for our PB athletes.

Bingo! Night-Date Changed
Pat Butler’s Annual Bingo night date has changed. We will be hosting this fun event on February 26th at 5:00 p.m. Please mark your calendars for a fun filled family event. More information to come!
LCAP (Local Control and Accountability Plan)
Thank you to those community members that participated in our LCAP meetings. We would love to hear from as many parents as possible to assist us in identifying needs and priorities in the upcoming years. Please assist us with this by completing the attached survey.
Dental Screening
February is National Children’s Dental Health Month, a great time to promote the benefits of good oral hygiene. Dr. Stout and the San Luis Dental Society have volunteered to screen elementary school students in grades K—5 for obvious dental decay or visual oral concerns.
If you do not want your child to be screened, please send a written letter opting out of the program this school year. Parents will be notified if obvious dental issues are observed. Please note this should not replace your child's regular dental visits.
Wellness Policy Meetings
Please see the attached flyer for our Wellness Committee Meeting. There are 3 meetings scheduled for the remainder of the year to help set up guidance and clarity around our Wellness Policy. Anyone can attend.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher Conferences are March 9th-13th. Your child’s teacher will reach out soon to schedule a date and time.
